Hydrant Flushing
The City of Sunnyside will perform a water system flushing beginning on Monday, August 23, 2010, through Thursday, August 26, 2010, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm throughout the city.
The water system is flushed in order to flush out iron and manganese deposits, which cause "rusty" looking water and for hydrant flow testing. The flushing takes place through the fire hydrants and is completed by the Water Division Personnel of the City of Sunnyside Public Works Department.
Possible Impacts:
Some turbidity will occur causing temporary discoloration.
Minimize water usage during this time period and run your household plumbing for about 10 minutes first thing in the morning to eliminate any deposits which may be in your own plumbing system.
If you have any questions, please call the Public Works office at 509-837-5206.
Community Development / Building Department
Beginning Monday, April 5th, 2010 the City of Sunnyside will start performing inspections using an “AM / PM” service call system with a 24 hour notification. AM inspections will be performed between the hours of 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, and PM inspections will be performed between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm. There will be no exact time or time estimated for inspections offered.
Example: Contractor calls in on Monday and asks for an inspection, they will be offered either an AM or a PM inspection available on Tuesday but not an exact time or time estimate.
This new program should allow City staff time to perform duties such as plan reviews and permitting. The only exceptions to this rule for performing same day inspections will be for roof tear downs and open trenches.
