Why are there paint marks on the street and/or my property?

All utility owners (gas, cable, telephone, water, sewer, etc.) are required by law to mark underground facilities prior to any type of excavating to prevent damage due to construction activity. Hitting one of these lines can become a very hazardous situation. Paint marks are color-coded for your convenience.
